Donlin Advisory Technical Review and Oversight Committee (DATROC)

The Donlin Advisory Technical Review and Oversight Committee (DATROC) was established through individual land agreements with The Kuskokwim Corporation (TKC) and Calista Corporation to provide a forum for collaboration and oversight on technical aspects of the Donlin Gold project.

The DATROC, which meets at least quarterly, is a six member committee, and includes three representatives from Donlin Gold, two from Calista, and one from TKC. The Committee was formed to ensure that everyone’s interests are heard when DGLLC explores and develops the project. The Committee also listens to the advice of the Subsistence Community Advisory Committee (SCAC) about subsistence matters. In short, the Committee’s purpose is to ensure environmental protection, prioritize subsistence uses, and discuss reclamation, community impacts, and archaeological resources.

The DATROC Supports Project Collaboration

  1. Assist with identifying the impacts of Donlin operations in the region and provide a framework for problem solving and conflict resolution.
  2. Establish open, transparent and reciprocal communications in the region about Donlin Gold’s operations and associated impacts.
  3. Coordinate and communicate with Calista and TKC on an ongoing basis about the region’s needs and priorities.
  4. Encourage ongoing community participation and collaboration about issues important to the region, addressing questions and concerns and sharing ideas and solutions.
  5. Build solid relationships between Donlin and community leaders, community members, businesses and other important stakeholders in the region who have a shared interest in continuing to strengthen the region’s economy, health and wellbeing.
